Supernatural Transformation: 8 Keys I’ve Learned That Work

Supernatural Transformation

No matter what we want to achieve in life, there is a process of transformation we must undergo to be successful.  It applies to school, careers, relationships, marriage, athletics and of course, spiritually.  I began to really learn about this probably eight years ago and now I can say I have discovered what works in producing clear measurable results that I can point to in my life.  I’m going to give eight of the most effective techniques that I use myself regularly which, if you will implement these, you will absolutely see miraculous results likewise.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
(Romans 12:2 NKJV)

1 – Bible Notecards

I began writing down many prominent verses several years ago and then I would read them every day.  Eventually, I also started speaking them out every day, or several times a day.  I’ve learned there is a huge difference between reading something and speaking it out.  Definitely it is true that until we speak God’s truth out of our mouth audibly, it remains trapped inside our mind.  When God created the world, it never says He thought about stars and birds and plants and they were created but instead He spoke audibly and said “let there be…”  Since we are created in the image of God, we are likewise to do the same as He does.  Proverbs 18:21 says we have immense power in our words.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.
(Proverbs 18:21 NKJV)

My latest realization came just recently when, after I had been memorizing and speaking these for a few years or more, some of them had still not actually produced much fruit in my life.  I began instead to stop at each verse and ask God to help me to do what was stated so that the desired outcome could manifest in my life.

  • Take the examples of Psalm 37:4-5.  Instead of just repeating that verse, I say, “help me to delight myself in You God so that You will give me the desires of my heart and help me to commit my way to You and to trust You so that You will bring all these things to pass.”
  • Proverbs 3:5-6 is similar to the above but, although most people quote this, I wonder if it gets beyond just a memory verse.  I now ask God to help me to trust Him with my whole heart and to not lean on my own understanding so that He will direct my paths (and my steps will not be directed by me instead).

Since I began asking God to cause these verses to manifest in my life, I have received near-instant results in areas where I was previously making no new progress.  We are never told to do things in our own energy but instead to rely on God’s power working through us for everything.

2 – Fasting

I cannot overstate the power the practice of fasting.  I’ve seen the results in my own life starting four years ago when I did my first fast.  For six weeks straight, I ate no food from the afternoon on Thursday until around 6:00 pm on Friday.  This amounted to a 24-hour fast.  I had never done anything like that previously and had no idea what to expect from it.  I just knew I had to do it.  After six weeks, I suddenly woke up one day with the realization that a major sin problem (bad language) had been totally broken off my life.  No one can tell me fasting isn’t for today.

On a practical note, I have heard many stories of people who have gone on extended fasts including 40 day water-only fasts.  Personally, I cannot do such a thing.  I’m tall and thin, I do not have weight to lose and fasting for an extended period of time puts me in a state where I have no energy and can’t function very well.  If you feel a conviction to do an extended fast, then by all means you must do that.  Personally, my fasting practice means I don’t eat anything until the end of the day, usually around 6:00 pm.  If I am doing this for many days straight, then I may cut that back to 3:00 pm or so.  I have done this a lot in the last four years and have seen clear results from it.  If you do not make fasting a regular practice, you can forget about anything miraculous in your life.  This is all over the Bible, it’s not that hard and there is no way out of it.

3 – Music and Environment

There is a well-known saying regarding computer programming which applies to our topic today.  “Garbage in, garbage out”.  What you put into your heart and mind is what will come out in all areas of your life.  If you expect to have miraculous results in your spiritual life, you cannot live by the world’s practices.  You must understand the pathways to your heart and mind.  It’s very simple:  eyes and ears are the primary ways a thing gets inside of us.  But our minds also can corrupt our heart and we must be very careful what we entertain in our thinking.

This is going to shock some people but I have finally realized that our minds are a spiritual antenna which receive thoughts that do not always originate from us!  Many people who have severe behavioral issues are actually tuned into the demonic realm and are acting out the thoughts being sent directly to their mind from another dimension.

Back to the eyes and ears…  You cannot expect to have miraculous results in your life when you are filling them with what is on TV or radio when it comes from a secular worldly source.  If that is your primary input during the day (every day), then expect the fruit of that information to be produced in your life.  “Garbage in, garbage out”

Secular music will do the same thing.  On a side note, I personally do not even agree with half of the so-called “Christian” music that exists.  My personal standards for music which I play 24-hours a day in my home includes a variety of styles which all have a message that does not water down the power of the gospel.  Do this likewise and you will get supernatural results.

4 – Audio Bible

We have the most amazing tools at our disposal these days.  Almost everything can be obtained digitally and free nowadays.  I myself have Bible apps on my phone and tablet which I often use to play the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation.  This is a huge help to me!  If I had to sit and read the entire Bible by turning pages, I’ll be honest, it would be extremely difficult for me to get through the entire thing.  There’s some very good news if you want to consider the audio Bible.

It takes only about 40 straight hours of reading (or listening) to get through the entire Bible.

I personally like to listen rather than to read regardless of what type of book we are talking about.  I’m a very active person and I can’t stand sitting for very long.  For everything except the Bible, I use Amazon’s Kindle for reading most other books in digital format.  My Kindle device reads all my books to me audibly so again, I rarely have to sit and turn pages.

Back to the audio Bible, I can’t count the number of times my tablet has played the entire Bible while I’m either deliberately listening or just playing it in the background.  If you drive or travel a lot, I strongly suggest this as part of your list of things to do while in the car, bus or airplane.  The more of God’s word you get into your inner-most being, the more results you will get.

5 – Get Solid Teaching

I’m not really a “milk” person when it comes to Bible teaching.  I believe it’s good that there are people who preach nice motivational feel-good messages and we can all use that from time to time.  But, this can’t be our only source of input.  If you want to learn the deep hidden mysteries of the kingdom of God, you are going to have to get past this level of teaching.  There has to be a practical aspect of all teaching for it to be anything more than intellectual head knowledge.  Head knowledge does not produce fruit.  Solid teaching must be “actionable” and you must be able to clearly measure the results in your life.  The kind or results I am going after in my life are the ones we see in the four Gospels and book of Acts.  Anything less than that is not Biblical results.

Brethren, do not be children in understanding…
(1 Corinthians 14:20 NKJV)

6 – Ask Hard Questions!

Passivity is not found in the Bible.

Why do people read the Bible passively and not ask challenging questions about what they read?  I don’t know but I’ve been guilty of that myself. Constantly make a habit of asking God to reveal things in your daily reading/listening that you do not understand.  The more questions you ask, the more answers you will get. James tells us that we do not have because we do not ask!

I’ve been learning something very profound just recently that is not taught at all in any church I’ve ever been to.  It’s that strange and mostly misunderstood word “meekness“.  Part of God’s character of meekness is such that He does not volunteer information at times.  If you want to know certain things, you must ask Him!  At times, you must ask Him repeatedly which shows Him you really want the answer.  If you just ask casually, don’t expect the answer every time.  If you really want an answer, you must act like it.  I’ve discovered this myself.

7 – Daily Communion

Daily communion has been known and documented to have many supernatural effects including physical healing.  This is not at all recognized by most churches.  To make matters worse, those that are identified under the general category of “protestant” generally do not do this weekly at their services for primarily only one reason:  because the Roman Catholic church does this weekly.  No kidding!  That is their ultra-profound “Bible-based reason” for not doing weekly communion in their services.  Because they don’t want to be “catholic”. WOW.  We need to reconsider this.

Since most churches don’t do this weekly, they also don’t teach their people to do it daily either.  On the flip side of this is the excessive formality that some churches put on communion such that no one believes what the Bible says that we are ALL kings and priests and we each have the authority to take communion ourselves!

Now, using my own advice on asking hard questions, let’s consider an aspect of this practice that I have not heard from any teacher yet.  I began taking daily communion on and off during the last three years but it wasn’t until just recently that I made a profound discovery.  I don’t know if this has ever been taught but take a look at what popped into my mind.

Going back to Genesis 2, I began to consider the fruit that was on “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil”.  I began asking myself how could eating a fruit from a tree produce a spiritual change?  What was in that fruit that had the power to cause Adam and Eve to be changed in a negative sense and to have their understanding opened to a realm that God did not intend for them?  I don’t accept a casual reading over of this passage and a simple answer here.  Since I do not yet have the answer, here is what did occur to me as a result of this question…

If eating a fruit could cause a very negative supernatural result, how much more can eating and drinking daily communion cause an equally (or more) greater positive result!  With this new question in my mind, now when I take communion at home, I ask that God put His supernatural transforming power into the bread and grape juice so that when I take it, it will begin to produce an increased transformation inside of me.  Whatever we ask, if we ask in faith, according to God’s word, we must expect it to happen.  So this is addition is now part of my new routine.

8 – Speaking in Tongues

I need to be very direct with those who do not believe in speaking in tongues:  if you have not been taught about this then now is the time to learn; but, if you have been taught against this, you need to stop listening to false teachers.  I can’t make it anymore clear than that.  Speaking in tongues is Biblical and it was even prophesied in Isaiah 28:11.  I have both heard reports of, and seen myself, the clear evidence of the power of this practice in the lives of those who do it.  I myself, do this frequently every day.  This is a supernatural practice where you speak the mysteries of the Holy Spirit and you totally bypass the limits of your intellect.  Our mind mostly caps off what we pray for and limits us in more ways than we can imagine.  God gave us this supernatural ability to completely circumvent our intellectual limitation and come into agreement with Him using a language that no devil in hell can understand!

For those who understand that there are spiritual parallels with everything in the natural world, you would be interested to know that we have something that equates to speaking in tongues.  It’s called Morse Code.  If you just listen to a message given using this dot-and-dash technique, it is impossible to make any sense of it unless you have studied it.  It sounds like just a bunch of noise.  Well, God uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise and if you consider yourself too wise to speak in tongues, then fill in your own blank.  This is not an optional practice “only for certain people” as some have said; that is not Biblical at all.  You need to know when to break rank with people who are popular but teach falsely on things such as this.  I have yet to see anyone with true Biblical results in their life who do not practice speaking in tongues regularly.

Conclusion

Here again are the top eight practices below.  If you want supernatural transformation in your life, you must do these regularly.  I have found there are very few shortcuts in the Christian life.  This is not for the half-hearted.  If you want results, you need to put in the effort and pay the price.  If you are finding yourself spending more time on worldly things on a regular basis, you need to flip that pyramid of priorities upside down and put what I’m saying here on the top of your list.  Everything I write here is what I do myself; I practice what I preach and from experience, I can say these all work!  I hope you will consider these as well.

  1. Bible Notecards – Speak them out audibly and ask God to make them manifest in your life.
  2. Fasting – On a regular basis; make it repeatable.
  3. Music and environment – “Garbage in, garbage out”.
  4. Audio Bible – You must know what God says in His book!
  5. Get solid teaching – We must grow up and stop drinking only milk.
  6. Ask hard questions – This is how we learn, through an active process.
  7. Daily communion – Ask and expect that God will put His supernatural power inside the bread and juice so that when you take it, it will transform you from the inside out.
  8. Speaking in tongues – Regularly and frequently; this is a supernatural act with far more benefits than can be listed.
