Readers of my blog may not know it, but financial provision and wealth is one of my top personal focus areas. It’s actually hidden in many of my articles. A few years ago I began to realize that I had a calling similar to Joseph and Daniel but had no idea how I would ever do the things they did. I’ve since written many articles here about how I have been walking into their ability as a dream interpreter but now I’m going to hit on the prosperity side which Joseph is most well-known for. Too many Christians are living by the worldly system of running after money out of fear of lack and as a result, are totally missing their true purpose and calling in life. It’s time to destroy the lies of the enemy and get into God’s kingdom system of financial operations.
(UPDATE: article edited and shortened slightly for clarity – October 2018.)
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
(Matthew 6:33 NKJV)
For the past few years I’ve been on a serious search to find out everything I could about God’s way of operating. During this process, I began having a greater understanding of Matt 6:33 and likewise began taking it more and more literally. One of the biggest convictions I developed was this issue of money and giving.
I realized that in order to accomplish the most meaningful things in this life, I was never going to find it by working jobs and saving money. My aspirations were simply way too big for that. Not only that, but by working in some normal job, I would be extremely limited with time off for going on missions trips or ministry activities either in the US or overseas. This meant I was going to need a solution far beyond what I had ever done before.
Babylonian System of Labor
Shockingly, I’ve been discovering that most Christians like myself, have had NO understanding whatsoever of how God’s kingdom operates. There are so-called “Christian” financial programs telling us how to be responsible with money and save up so we can get by and barely make it. Nothing wrong with being responsible with money – in fact if you can’t do that, you’ll never get what I’m talking about here. But the problem with the predominant type of so-called “Christian” teaching is that it is no different from the Babylonian worldly system. Hello!
If you’re like me and you get that nagging feeling sometimes in the back of your mind like, “this isn’t a very good answer” – pay attention to that. It’s from God; it’s not your own thought. God is giving you that conviction! I’ve learned this myself with several years of experience and every time I followed it, I came into a whole new amazing revelation of things that had been completely hidden from me.
Purpose of Money
Here’s a newsflash to most people: money is a tool to accomplish our God-given assignment. Money is not THE purpose of life, it is only what we use while accomplishing our purpose. We are told specifically we cannot both serve God and be running after money. God’s system is completely opposite and mostly in direct conflict to both logical thinking and the worldly system. Not one time anywhere in the Bible do we see an instruction to put money and our need for provision ahead of following God’s plans.
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
(Matthew 6:24 NKJV)
How many people have never bothered to even find out their purpose and calling in life because they lived in fear of not having their needs met? How many have gone after the wrong jobs that were not even suited to them? Going after the size of a paycheck or a retirement plan rather than what God created us to be is a nearly 100% guarantee we will never get what God had planned for us.
Ok, so now you’re probably wondering now, how does God’s kingdom system work in the financial realm? Great question. A major key is found in the story of Elijah and the widow in 1 Kings 17. If you read that really closely and study all the details, you’ll get a pretty good idea how this works.
As you’ll find out from my recommendation below, God’s system operates on a first you give what you have, then God gives you what He has. God has much more than you and I have but you need to learn how to let go of your possessions first and trust God with what He has.
God’s system does operate on work but it does not operate on toil and hard labor and saving up (hoarding) so we can barely escape the rat race. Jesus told us not to worry (Luke 12:22-34 and Matt 6:24-34) and He gave us clear specific examples of how the kingdom system operates:
- See how Peter paid his tax with a specific instruction for how to find the money he needed in the mouth of a fish: Matt 17:27.
- The disciples were fishing all night and caught nothing, but Jesus comes along and gives a specific instruction to cast the net on right side of boat (John 21:6).
The key here is waiting on God to give you a specific instruction, by the Holy Spirit, where to go, what to do and how to do what is needed to create the money you need.
And He said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?
(Mark 4:13 NKJV)
Many things in God’s kingdom operate on a very simple principle of agriculture: sowing and reaping. There should be no surprise then, that many of Jesus’ parables revolve around this concept. Financial matters are no exception. When we “sow” into God’s kingdom (with money, time, volunteering, etc.), God will then give us what we need. This is how Matt 6:33 is fulfilled regarding everything we need. The key is to “sow” with specific intentionality, expecting to reap a reward.
Personal commentary: this was really hard for me to understand at first but when I finally got it, it was a most revolutionary concept.
As you’ll find out in the resource below, this has a few very simple steps to follow:
- You need to first name a thing that you need (or would like to have).
- Give money (or maybe an item of some value) to God’s kingdom just as if you planted a seed in the ground with the above need attached to this act of giving.
- Wait for God to reveal how/where/when to get what you’ve asked for.
When we take care of God’s kingdom, God takes care of us. If we cannot pass the test of giving what we have and letting go of our possessions, then we cannot enter into this kingdom system. This is specifically giving into God’s kingdom via a ministry. If you don’t know a good ministry, ask God to reveal that. I also have a list that I’ve accumulated over time.
You’re probably wondering if I’ve done this myself? Yes. I did this on the level approximating what you see in 1 Kings 17 because I asked for something very, very big. When I did my part, God began His part which involved the first steps of putting me through a process of preparing me to handle the size of what I’ve asked for.
Don’t be surprised if you have asked God for something big and then you end up going through a rough time like Joseph did in order to be ready for the assignment God has for you. Just like with Joseph, God won’t give us something that will destroy us if we are not ready to handle it (only Hollywood does that).
I’ve had to go through God’s pruning process to make me ready to handle the assignment God has for me just like Joseph. I’ve matured in ways and learned things about my own character flaws that I had no knowledge were even there! This would be a great time to say truthfully, like Joseph, these types of maturing and training processes are not easy and learning to actually live by faith can be extremely difficult. There have been plenty of times that I wanted to quit and just go back to something easier.
New Practical Resource
One of the things I do here extensively is to tell about resources from teachers I have found to be the top in their fields. I’ve linked many of them on my resources page for that purpose.
Today’s resource recommendation came to me from a recent Sid Roth interview with Gary Keesee. What I like about Gary’s teaching is that he goes way beyond a “just have faith” message. He gives practical specific things you must do and know in order for God’s kingdom system to operate in your life.
There are many great products available at his website but my own personal suggestion is to start with: Your Financial Revolution. In this message series (and the above interview), you’ll hear about Gary’s personal testimony of how he went from a hopeless pile of debt that he could not pay off to the creator of multi-million dollar businesses. Here are some questions he answers in this product:
- What is the earth-cursed system and how did it get here?
- What specific things must you do in order to activate God’s kingdom in your finances?
- How do the parables of sowing and reaping relate to our finances?
- How do you pass the money test?
- How do you access God’s hidden specific solution?
- Why is timing and strategy important?
(Please note: I have no personal connection to Gary Keesee and I make no money off this recommendation; it is simply one of the best available.)
Here are some things you can do right now in addition to getting that resource and following Gary Keesee. I’ve already written several articles on subjects that will help you get thinking in the right direction. Each point below here has a link to a previous article on this topic:
- Be transformed by the renewing of your mind and get rid of worldly thinking!
- Get a correct understanding of money and what can be done with it.
- Get rid of and away from anything that is of powerless academic religion!
- Find out what your God-given calling / purpose is and stop living below that.
- Remember that everything in God’s kingdom operates on a system of sowing and reaping, just like with agriculture. Learn how this works and put it into practice immediately. Start small if necessary.
