The Evaporating Dream: Can’t Remember It? Might Be It’s Just One Word

img_0179-1How many times have you had a dream with all sorts of activities going on but as soon as you wake up, you can’t remember anything except one little snapshot or a single thought? It’s like, ok, you have plenty of dreams where you can remember the entire thing long after you wake up, but this one you can’t. Try as hard as you can but still nothing comes back to you. If you’re anything like me, this can be a little bit aggravating.

Well, here’s some good news. This is a somewhat common situation and there are a few positives to consider. Here are both a few Biblical concepts as well as something in the natural realm that can help explain what’s going on and what you should do next time this happens to you.

Biblical Precedents

The simplest answer to the dilemma of evaporating dreams is what we find in two of the top end-times prophecy books in the Bible. Sometimes God gives us something but it’s sealed for a later time. Think about this for a minute – how many times have scholars tried to find out what was in these passages below but no matter what they did, all they came up with was a bunch of theories? What God locks up, no man can discover until the time is right (trust me, I’ve tried it).

Check the two verses below – twice we see how information was given to Daniel and John but God told them it was not for now.  It’s one of those odd ways God has of proving to us that He knows the future and He’ll give us just barely enough to know to expect something but, there’s hardly anything we can do with it right now other than wait and wonder.

And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
Daniel 12:9 (NKJV)

Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them.”
Revelation 10:4 (NKJV)

Supernatural Programming

Here’s something I wrote in a previous blog but it begs a little more elaboration now. Some dreams are like your cell phone apps. They update in the background when you’re not paying any attention to them. How many times have you plugged your phone in at night and woke up the next day and one of your apps was a little different than the day before? Right – it updated to a newer version last night while you were sleeping. Same idea here with a dream, except YOU are the one getting updated / upgraded.

Basically, it can be that the information primarily goes to your spirit in the same way as a word of knowledge comes to your mind – supernaturally. You just suddenly get it. Think of these evaporating dreams like that. God might be programming you in a way that you will need later on. Here’s another way to think of it…

Seed Planting

How many times do we read about seeds in the Bible? When you plant a seed in the ground, nothing at first seems to happen, but later on you start to see something is growing above ground. Same idea here. Suppose God needs to program you with some new information but it might take time for that “seed” to grow once it’s “planted” in your spirit or mind at night.

So what we have here are two great examples of natural parallels to the spirit realm: technology and agriculture. I’ve written about this in several previous blogs that when you’re trying to learn something about the spirit realm, don’t overlook your natural surroundings – both in nature and in technology. Often, there are more obvious clues and answers there than we have any idea.

Personal Example

Just a few days ago, I had a dream where there was lots of activity going on and other people were also present in the dream. The details of the location were unknown but it was a daytime setting and whether indoors or outdoors I couldn’t tell. When I woke up, only one single thought came to me – “busy” or “a lot of activity”. That was it. The meaning of the dream was simple…expect to be busy doing a lot of things soon. The entire dream more or less boiled down a single word of knowledge. And that was all that was necessary at that moment.

This turned out to be a confirmation to me because I’ve been feeling like it’s time for many new things to start happening and I’ve even been working on a few different projects. In the back of my mind was a question about whether some of those were really the right direction for me to be going in. I have a problem sometimes overthinking things and I often ask God for a confirmation about something before I get too far into a new project. Because this dream was a daytime setting (not dark) and there seemed to be an overall very positive feeling, I felt in my spirit that this was God giving me both a green light about my current projects and also that they would lead to something productive.

What You Should Do

Ok, so we’ve covered the Biblical basis for why an evaporating dream may not be a bad sign for you. We’ve also dealt with how we can pick up some answers to our spiritual dilemmas by observing God’s creation as well as that of our modern world. And, I’ve given a short and simple example and how one of my own evaporating dreams related directly to my life right now. Hopefully this has also cleared up any confusion you’ve had and given you the insight you can grab onto and apply in your own dreams.

But one last thing now…

When you get either one of these evaporating dreams, or any dream for that matter, make sure you take an active response to them. Do something simple like ask God to do what He showed you in those dreams. Don’t leave it as a passive thing. When you are actively involved in what God shows you, it’s like you are coming into agreement with Him. We should never expect God to just do things while we sit passively around.

Also ask God if there’s anything you need to do right now so you can do your part. Remember that dreams are partial and as we step out and do whatever our part is, now we should watch and expect to get the rest of what we were not shown. Ok, so that’s all – keep it simple, remember the word of knowledge idea for these and take it from there. 1. Hi Chris, Wonderful insight. I had a dream where I was with people doing something in a bright golden palace and it was right before I woke up. Then I woke up and the brightness I felt in the dream is what I felt when I awoke but that’s all I remember the word palace was all I could and can remember and I was surprised I lost the memory of the dream so fast as I perceived it was a good dream. I didn’t feel like the dream was snatched rather hidden. God is so amazing thanks for this reveal.

    1. Hi Beryl – thank you!! I get the idea of “Heaven” from what you describe. I’ve got a short video on “castles” that relates to this – but in your case it’s really more of Heaven with the gold and brightness. There is a very good chance God is showing you in advance of a glimpse of a trip in the spirit to Heaven literally that you will be having. Lots of people have had this happen – you can be taken there as if in a dream but it’s an actual trip in the spirit – not just a dream. Consider this as a possible advance notice of this and see what else God has to say about it.
