Common Dreams: Cities – Shopping – Lakes – Gliders (Plus Another Science Validation)

Today I’m taking a recent dream with many common symbols that you will see in your own dreams and explaining how it served as a confirmation of what I’ve recently been spending a huge amount of time studying. This is not a science blog here so if that’s not your thing, no problem, the majority of what I’m discussing will apply to you.

What appeared in this dream included things like walking through an unknown city, two lakes, a bakery shop and a small model airplane (glider) that I carried all through the dream. I’m going to explain how I was able to connect this dream with my recent science study that led me to realize what God was showing me about the correct understanding of how the universe works.

Dream – A Spirit-Led Walk Through A City

October 31, 2020 – I’m walking thru an unknown city, holding a small glider (airplane) and looking where I could fly it. Next, I’m on top of a nearby hill that has a large body of water (on top) and then I’m walking back down the hill to the city sidewalk / street below with another different lake (at street-level) on the left. I don’t fly the airplane there at first because of the lake. But while I’m walking on the sidewalk, I do fly the glider (throwing it in the air) and it goes right into a shop that’s like a bakery. I walk inside to get the glider and decide to buy something while I’m there so I get pumpkin cake. The piece of cake is expensive ($8+) but I get it anyway. While I’m looking for money in my wallet, I notice there’s Euros as well as US dollars. While I’m trying to leave, there’s suddenly more people now in the shop and I’m having a hard time gathering up all my things – seems now I have more than I came in with and it’s all getting very cluttered (biggest clue!!). Very nice sunny day scene.

So, that’s a sort of long dream but I condensed it into the most important elements. Now let’s look at the individual symbols and make sure to keep in mind what I said was the “biggest clue” to how I understood what this dream was about.

  • Glider = led by the Holy Spirit, also due to its small size here, it can mean something not yet fully developed (my science study / invention work still in progress).
  • Top of hill = place of revelation, peaceful meeting place with God and secluded shut in time.
  • Lake (on hill) = elaborates on idea of a peaceful setting on the hill.
  • City = coming back “down” from place of revelation to the world, personal adventure in a new / potentially unfamiliar “place”.
  • Lake (below near city) = boundary / restricting the Holy Spirit (if glider goes there I won’t get it back out).
  • Shop/ping = place where various types of resources including knowledge can be found, (see “marketplace“ definition below).
  • Unexpected visit = validates again that I ended up at this “shop“ (a specific field of scientific study) led by the Holy Spirit.
  • $8+ = “spending” more time and effort than I expected at first but it leads to something new.
  • Euros (money) = literally Europe(ean) resources / knowledge obtained in context of my science studies, perhaps literal money or favorable status gained from European connections.
  • Pumpkin cake = personal significance (“has my name on it” because I like this in real life), getting the thing I need (information / knowledge in context of recent revelations from science study).
  • Clutter = I didn’t come in with all that, potential for getting distracted, trying to keep things organized (see more in a below section).

Purpose of this dream is to validate my recent extensive science studies and very likely a hint regarding what’s next with invention. Specifically, the dream confirms that I ended up at the “bakery shop” by the leading of the Holy Spirit and that I received something of personal significance which I need for the next step in my “walking out” the process of discovery about my upcoming energy technology invention(s).

The whole arrival at this “shop” was not planned by me but because of the nature of content in my recent science studies, it is extremely helpful to know that God is again saying “yes, this is in fact the correct understanding I need”.

If you’ve seen any of my previous blogs about what I’ve been learning regarding the true model of our universe, solar system and sun, you’ll know why this is such a critical validation. For more information on that, see my recent blog: Biblical Clues To Scientific Theories: Sun & Stars – Evidence Of Electrical Nature?

Now, I want to elaborate on a few of the primary symbols so you can see how all this makes a great deal of sense. These are common symbols you will very likely see in your own dreams and when you do, you will have some ideas what they can mean.

Glider (Airplane)

This was one of the most important symbols in the dream because it showed that God was in fact directly involved in my last several weeks of serious in-depth science studies. Here’s why I say that…

Gliders are airplanes that do not have an engine but are kept airborne by invisible air currents from either convective heating (of the ground by the sun) or by wind currents generated near mountains. Most of the time, gliders are flown near mountain ranges because the up and down drafts can be very strong. Some gliders have even flown as high as airline jets because of the strength of these winds.

In a dream, this represents being carried or directed by the invisible leading of the Holy Spirit. The Biblical passage where this idea is taken from is found below in Jesus’ words to Nicodemus and then as well in the words of the prophet Zechariah.

The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

John 3:8 (NKJV)

So he answered and said to me:
“This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel:
Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’
Says the LORD of hosts.

Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV)

In my dream, I was looking for a place to fly the glider and there were not many places it could go. Finally, I flew it and it went unexpectedly into the bakery shop where several key events / actions took place next. Therefore, in real life, my “by chance” discovery of new scientific information was not at all random, but a deliberate leading by God!

Lakes & Other Bodies Of Water

Lakes can represent a variety of things which are best understood by the context of the dream. As you saw in my dream, I had two lakes / bodies of water. In the first part (on top of the hill), this lake represented the peace of God and I believe as well a place of testing and character development.

But in the second part of the dream, the lake had an entirely different meaning as a place where you would not want the glider to land in. So the second lake represented the potential for a hindrance to the work of the Holy Spirit.

Lake: (1) Harvest field; (2) Place of testing; (3) May symbolize your life journey (crossing lake); (4) Place of final judgment (lake of fire); (5) Church (as a corporate reservoir of the Spirit); (6) The peace of God; (7) Restricting the move of the Spirit.

The Divinity Code to Understanding Your Dreams and Visions by Adam F. Thompson & Adrian Beale

The idea of a hindrance comes from how a lake can be a place where water does not flow like a river. In the context of my dream, this fits because the realm of science is most often led by atheists or those who are stuck in the confines of the human intellect. In my dream, I did not want the glider to land out in the water where I could not easily go in and get it back.

From the above passage in John 3:8, the “moving” or “flowing” of the Holy Spirit requires freedom where rigid doctrines and intellectual limitations are not in control of the environment. This is something I have dealt with in several of my blogs including this one: Overcoming Intellectual Barriers to the Supernatural: A Hollywood Illustration.

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

2 Corinthians 3:17 (NKJV)

Therefore, the meaning of rivers in a dream can be either as a place where the Holy Spirit is “flowing” or it can also be a barrier of some type that must be “crossed” as in the miracle where the Israelites crossed the Jordan with Joshua or how Elijah and Elisha crossed rivers by making them stop so they could walk on dry land. See Validating the Supernatural for more references to those miracles / supernatural abilities of sonship.

The key to knowing whether a body of water is a positive or negative symbol lies in the context of the dream and what actions are seen or (as in my dream) what thoughts come to mind about that symbol. Again, the first scene of my dream, the water was positive, but in the second scene it was not.

Cities & Towns

Cities in dreams are very common and can have various meanings. Sometimes, if you know exactly what city you are in, it might have a literal meaning that does not need interpreting. It also can be about the meaning of the name or most commonly known attribute of that city.

In cases where the city is not known, it can represent the world, a large audience of people, business and commerce, or even just your personal journey into a familiar or unfamiliar realm very much like I spoke about in a recent video: Common Dreams: Traveling – Eating – Movie Characters – Friends.

In my dream here, the unknown city seemed to represent two things: 1) my personal journey / adventure where I’m “walking through the discovery” of something new to me (with science) and, 2) the contrast from being up on the hill (focusing on spiritual things) to now being back “down to earth“ dealing with natural things (science).

If you’re not familiar with the meaning of hills and mountains in dreams, you can see my blog: Mountains, Hills in Dreams: Science & Biblical Metaphors.

Shopping / Stores

Shopping and stores are very common dream symbols and you will undoubtedly find yourself in a dream looking for clothes, shoes, cars, food, or just about anything else. The basic idea is that to be shopping means that you are seeking something which you need.

When you buy something, you are obtaining that needed item or resource, often at personal cost. In my real life, I needed a certain type of information and knowledge which I did not previously have (and did not know that I needed) and my unexpected entry into the “bakery shop” led to my getting this.

In my case, food as a symbol of knowledge and learning comes from the passage where Jesus spoke about Himself as the “bread of life” (in this case, personal knowledge of and relationship with Him).

And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

John 6:35 (NKJV)

The Biblical meaning of a store or shopping center (marketplace) comes from the passage below. Just the word “marketplace” may not make this so obvious but when you look into the original Greek meaning of this word, it becomes much more clear…

And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,

Acts 16:19 (KJV)

g0058. ἀγορά agora; from ἀγείρω ageirō (to gather; probably akin to 1453); properly, the town-square (as a place of public resort); by implication, a market or thoroughfare: — market(-place), street.
AV (11) – market 6, marketplace 4, street 1;
1- any assembly, especially of the people
2- the place of assembly
for public debating
for elections
for trials
for buying and selling
for all kinds of business
3- market place, street

Strong’s Concordance – Blue Letter Bible ref

Valuable tip… This is a huge Bible study and dream symbol research clue I just gave here. When looking for possible meanings of symbols you see in your dreams, do what I did. Look for the key word in a Bible verse search and then use the concordance to look up all the possible meanings.

Just as I linked above, you can use the website for Blue Letter Bible to look up specific words in the concordance. It’s not the easiest website to use, but you can get everything you need with a bit of effort.

Although I did not discuss it here, you can find out more about God‘s system of buying and obtaining valuable things from Him in the book linked at the bottom resources section: The Heart, The Currency Of Heaven, by David E. Taylor.

Various Other Symbols

Pumpkin cake… this is a symbol that has personal significance to me. If you were to try and look up the meaning of both “pumpkins” and “cake” and combined them, you would not get a very reliable answer here. Food does have a definite meaning Biblically which does apply here but it’s the pumpkin that is personal to me only. In the context of this dream, I understood it to relate to my science study.

Cluttered gathering of my things… The big key to decoding this dream was this last and seemingly least significant detail. The chaotic attempt to gather up all my belongings so I could leave the shop is a very good description of my thoughts in the last couple weeks. In my recent science studies, I’ve been partially distracted because of how much time and attention I’ve had to put into learning a very huge amount of information.

Trying to gather up all the new scientific knowledge and keep it organized in my mind has been a bit of a challenge. And that was the decoding clue I needed to understand what God was showing me!

Science Validations?

By chance if you’re wondering, you can find out what God was validating scientifically from this dream at these websites: Thunderbolts Project and Aureon / SAFIRE. These companies are made up of scientists with international connections including Canada and Europe. Due to the type of energy technology invention I’ll be involved with, it was necessary to correct my understanding of how the universe works according to what they explain from their work.

As mentioned in my recent blogs, additional science and technology specific content will be added on my second website…

  1. Hi Chris

Great article, it’s always interesting to read about real dreams and the interpretation process. I love how you walk through each dream symbol and explain how you came to understand it, and how the dream fits into the context of your life.

I recently wrote about how the bible can help us understand dream symbols. Would you mind if I linked to your article as an example? I think it would be helpful.

It would be to this article:

In fact, as I’m reflecting now, this coming weekend I’ve scheduled an article about the importance of considering the context when interpreting a dream, and your example would be perfect for that too!

    • Hi Jenny – yes thank you!! Great article there, just read it now. Very good approach how you explain it all. Yes you can link my article or any others if you want at some point. That one took a ton of work to get it all right & still I didn’t know if it was understandable or too complicated. glad you liked it & I’m trying to do more like that now.
