The Supernatural Language Of Tongues | My Testimony Of Receiving

If you do not have the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence that you speak in tongues, my testimony of how I got it should help you. Today’s blog is in response to a few recent questions by those who wanted the ability to speak in tongues but did not yet have it. I never thought to write on this because for the last 10 years, this has become a very basic-level topic that I did not realize I should address here.

Today’s blog is partly an excerpt from my new Marvel Dream Revelations ebook, and it’s partly an added elaboration beyond that. As with my other recent blogs, my testimony is in the context of someone (myself) who was so stuck in an intellectual box that I had a nearly impossible time receiving the ability to do anything in the supernatural realm. But… if I could finally do it, anyone can!

My Early Discovery… In A Desert!

When I first realized that the Bible DOES say that the supernatural is VERY much still ongoing today, there was one verse that stood out and helped me to know beyond a doubt that I needed what I had lacked most of my life. Oddly enough, it was a verse I found myself while I was deployed to Iraq with the US Air Force in 2011. Not one time in my previous 4 decades of church had I heard any pastor preach on this. It was as if they conveniently clipped this out of their Bible because they decided in their mind of the flesh that this part of Jesus’ words were made void by their traditions and “Bible schools”.

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Mark 16:17 (KJV)

When I saw that verse, I was speechless. Partly because, as I said, at no time had any pastor ever preached this, and partly because God had just confirmed to me that tongues and healing miracles were very much expected for all of us right now! As I began studying the revelation I received from this verse, I eventually began hearing many testimonies by those who had received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit many decades ago. Some of those led me to believe that in order for me to receive this supernatural manifestation, I first needed some very overwhelming experience where a feeling came over me like heat, or I started shaking or something of that nature.

While those testimonies were amazing to read, they also had the effect of blocking me off. I reasoned in my intellect that unless I experienced what they had, I had not yet received anything from God. I suppose (because anything less than an amazing story would not make it into a book that many would read) there are fewer testimonies like mine to give evidence that you can receive what I’m saying without an overwhelming sensation. I don’t know why it is that people like myself rarely have such manifestations, but I have since learned if you are always looking for a sensation to prove the supernatural, you may very often miss God.

The Flesh Does Not Dictate Anything!

As it goes with anything in the supernatural realm, we are required to take much of it on faith, at least initially, before supporting evidence later shows up as a confirmation. If every time we needed a sensation or some overwhelming experience as proof of what God had given us, we would be in effect mandating that our flesh be fulfilled before we believe anything in the spirit realm.

To require the spirit realm to bow to our flesh is (if you haven’t caught it by now) totally out of order and very much in line with how the Pharisees tried forcing Jesus to prove everything to them. Your flesh will almost always be in opposition to God – do not forget that.

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

1 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV)

The following section is excerpted from my upcoming ebook, “Marvel Dream Revelations”, where I explain various keys I’ve learned to activating the supernatural. That chapter deals with how your imagination is a required connection in manifesting marvels. I list many additional keys that were revealed to me as I studied how to bring my marvel-level dreams from the spirit realm into the natural. Here’s what I wrote in my ebook…

Keys To Getting “In The Spirit” (Excerpt)

Praying in tongues is an important key as it bypasses the limits of your intellect.  When I first received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, I learned to do as Paul says – pray in tongues extensively!  God led me to Perry Stone in my initial stages of learning about the supernatural realm, and it was in one of his prophetic conferences in 2012 that I received my supernatural language.  If you’re familiar with Perry, he prays in tongues constantly and even has a reputation for that.

Because it took me so long to get the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and because of how amazed I was hearing Perry talk about his dreams, I made up my mind that when my time came, I would do exactly as he does.  If you’re new to this supernatural act of speaking a language of mysteries, my best advice is to not overthink it – that is what caused me a delay in receiving this ability, and it will stop you from making it a regular practice if you already have it.  So this is the first “method” I would suggest when working to activate your imagination and simultaneously practice meditating.

I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

1 Corinthians 14:18 (KJV)

My personal advice for those who do not yet have this supernatural language is what I wrote to someone in another country recently….

Speaking in tongues might be easier than you think.  Start by asking God for the baptism of the Holy Spirit and this gift of speaking in tongues.  In my case I had to ask for about 8 months until I got it, but that does not mean it will take you that long.  Maybe it will, maybe it won’t.  Remember, I had a severe mental barrier to anything supernatural and that absolutely caused me a delay not just with tongues, but everything else.

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Matthew 21:22 (KJV)

I really had to force this new language to get started even during that prophetic conference where I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.   I started out with the most simple, basic syllables, and I just repeated them; as I did, it opened the door for me to do much more.  Inside the conference with about 800 people, that’s all I could do. However,  when I got back to the hotel, and no one was around watching me, that’s when it hit me completely.  It was at least a 10 hour drive from where I was living to the conference and on the drive back the next day, I kept practicing to develop more.

My recommendation is to try this while you are alone.  If you do what I’m saying, I believe you will ultimately “get it”.  Do not doubt and overthink it.  This really is a process where you have to force yourself to go beyond any intellectual barrier you might have.  Also, it took me quite a while before I was comfortable speaking in tongues with other people around; you may feel that way also but don’t worry about it. Your version of tongues may not sound like anyone else so don’t get caught up in that.

Additional Biblical Support

That concludes my ebook excerpt and is as far as I want to carry this discussion today. Again, I need to emphasize to those who are still “on the outside” of what I’m writing here… if you react in a negative manner to what I’m saying, it is because you have not crucified your flesh and you have allowed it to take over and run your life. In that state you will never receive anything of significance from God. There is no other way to say it. If I, (remember how I used to be) could come to understand this, so can you – in fact, you are expected to!

This blog is not intended to fully address the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues, but I felt the need to include two more primary verses (of many more) that give further explanation. If you take what I have included in this post and use this for a starting point for your own research, you will find many more verses beyond just these.

— Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Romans 8:26-27 (KJV)

What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

1 Corinthians 14:15 (KJV)

That’s all for today – I hope and believe this has helped you if you have not yet received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. For more recent blogs about my testimony of activating the supernatural in my life, please see these below…

  1. That is very similar to my experience, Chris. Coming from a non-church background, I got saved in college. I was quite shy about it as it was looked down upon in my family. Shortly afterward, I asked for the filling of the Holy Spirit. The woman who prayed for me said, ” Now believe that you have it.” I didn’t feel anything, but after that I had the power to be a witness. I sought my prayer language for 7-8 months. I had times when it was almost there, but then my mind would get in the way. Finally, I just sat on my bed one day and forced it out. It was like unclogging a pipe. I felt a real joy and it felt like the Holy Spirit was flowing through me. Afterwards, I got more words as time went on and I practiced.
Lately, I have been learning about the difference between my soul and my spirit. I think this is a key: when our mind gets in the way, we can tell our soul to step back and call our spirit forward. Our spirit is the part of us that is connected to God. Our soul is informed by our spirit and our body is informed by our soul. We need our soul and it is the connector. But, if we want to walk in the Spirit, we have to let our spirit rule.
Thanks for sharing your experience, Chris.

  2. I think I’m quite similar to you as I had to overcome my thinking, and I don’t often get physical sensations either. I had to distract my brain in order to speak in tongues. As you say, I did it alone while driving. I put on worship music, focused on those words and God, asked Holy Spirit to use my words, and then just let stuff come out of my mouth without engaging brain. At first I thought it was just gibberish. It may have been! But after a few mins what I was saying started to change. After a while of doing this I was filled with the Holy Spirit!! So the baptism ‘feeling’ came after the tongues and stepping out in faith. I love hearing other stories so thank you.
