Common Dreams: Learning A New Way, An Adventure, Transitioning To A Driver’s Seat & An Apparent Illusion

Here is a driving dream that combines several common and complex symbols containing a personal message about transitioning into a new assignment. As you might be guessing, the dream I am about to explain had a lot to do with the cover image for this blog post – a motorhome. In the midst of all my posts on global events, marvelic abilities and my energy tech prophecy, I still like writing about the common dreams and symbols we all get regardless of our calling.

In today’s blog, I will tell you one of my very recent dreams and explain all the primary symbols along with additional elaboration about the overall meaning. At the end, I will include the relevant Bible verses that give greater insight about God’s message in this type of nighttime parable. Although you may not have a dream exactly like this one, my explanation of all the symbols should help in the event you see similar ones in a dream of your own.

At the bottom of this blog is the link to my newest ebook, “50+ Common Dreams That Played Out In Real Life“, where I use the same exact process of interpretation as you will see here below. Without further introduction, let’s get started…

Dream: An Adventure + Illusion / Driving On Other Side

January 15, 2022 – I’m in a big motorhome (RV), sitting in the front passenger seat. I’m looking across to the driver’s seat (which is on the right, as if a British vehicle) to see the engine gauges. They looked exactly like those found in an airplane (in fact, it seemed like this was two vehicles in one: a motorhome + an airplane). I’m talking to a man who is older than me, apparently on the radio about everything. It seemed like there were others either with him or just in my immediate vicinity, but they were all invisible. Then, I move over into the driver’s seat and I’m asking the man why are we parked in a parking lot if he thinks we are actually moving / flying. Seemed like it was an illusion because as I looked all around, I saw that we were definitely parked, and many other vehicles were all around the motorhome. However, it was very clear that the man believed we were in fact driving or flying.

The primary elements that stood out most profoundly in this dream were: the close up view of the engine gauges, the opposite side driver’s seat and the illusionary parked-but-moving experience.

Primary Symbols Explained

  • Motorhome = a new adventure, includes / carries a natural or spiritual family who are all going in the same metaphoric direction and to the same destination.
  • Flying + driving = indicates this is about spiritual matters which are often symbolized by being in the air, a spiritual journey; land vehicles can represent a longer process of time where the events of a personal journey develop.
  • Opposite side driver = learning to do something completely different and opposite from my normal nature, doing something familiar but with a very new set of challenges.
  • Driver seat = taking charge, leading those who come along with me, specifically focuses on the part of my life that involves a leadership capacity of some type.
  • Illusion = I am already in motion even if it doesn’t look like it; in the midst of the new assignment represented by the motorhome.
  • Other man = God (invisible), very near personally, despite not seeing Him with the natural eyes.
  • Radio = prayer (communicating with an invisible or far away person).
  • Engine gauges = often represents matters of the heart, focusing on developing a new type of heart for the new assignment.

Interpretation & Elaboration

For the last several months, I’ve been in a process of learning new skills and new ways of doing things, specifically as it relates to this website assignment and preparing for much larger audiences. When God wants to give you something new, and much larger than what you are familiar with, He requires you to establish a new type of heart. That often means developing traits and characteristics that you have not previously had.

Metaphorically, the engine in a vehicle often represents the heart because, just as the body moves based on the flow of blood, a vehicle moves by the flow of fuel that causes the transmission, axles and wheels to turn.

The focus was initially on the engine gauges and the fact that the driver’s seat was on the “wrong side” according to how an American (like myself) would view it. Just as driving from the opposite side of a vehicle would cause confusion and become a test of your coordination skills and patience, learning new skills and developing new ways of handling situations can also be very challenging.

One of the best Biblical illustrations of the importance of the heart is with David and Solomon. David often wrote about the heart in the Psalms. In the interaction between God and Solomon in 1 Kings 3:12-13, the type of hearts Solomon received were specifically mentioned, along with what came to him as a result (see the section below).

Driving a large vehicle that carries passengers means God is speaking about a leadership position. A motorhome (recreational vehicle) represents going into new territory as an adventure. When God leads us into something new, it should be considered an adventure, not an opportunity to get into fear. Often, our new assignments have a way of causing anxiety. But, if we train our mind to see everything differently, we overcome the fear that will otherwise cause us to not obey God.

The best explanation for the “illusion” of already being moving (but, according to natural sight, still in a parking lot), is that this new adventure has already begun despite my literal circumstances not looking any different. Switching from the front passenger seat into the driver’s seat is like a personal timeframe marker that I have already now transitioned into my new role. The main point here is to take the reality of the transition into the new assignment on faith.

This transition indicator is significant because only one month ago, I had a dream of looking inside a huge semi-truck from the passenger side door and seeing a massive living room inside behind the driver’s area. A living room is a place of gathering (which in real life terms, often means by some form of social media connection). Today’s dream is a follow up to that one and shows a progression of events… first observing from the outside, then transitioning from the front passenger seat to now becoming the “driver”.

In summary, this dream contained many common symbols arranged together with some unusual complexities. The dream presented a personal message on various levels in the form of a parable using everyday common images.
