Dream Interpretation Mentoring: What If I Cannot Interpret Your Dreams

In the near-7 years since I began interpreting dreams online through this website, I have received over 3,400 emails – most of which are regarding dreams. Most of the time, I have at least a decent answer to what a person’s dream means but, I am not always able to interpret them. Why would it be that I might not have an answer? Well, lots of reasons but one in particular that I want to tell you about in this blog.

The Office Of The Dreamer

As happens frequently, my blogs are at times the result of emails I receive with questions from a reader about their dreams. Just as Joseph in the Bible, my calling goes far beyond simply interpreting dreams – you can find the other topics God has me focusing on in other blogs, videos, podcasts and ebooks. Having said that, dreams are a basic foundational topic that I deal with very often and, we see again with Joseph, that it was his ability to give interpretations and the proper response to a dream that got him promoted to the second highest position in Egypt.

If you are not aware, God is very big on honoring those who have a calling as a “dreamer of dreams”. This is unfortunately NOT well understood in most of our modern-day cultures, especially here in the USA where I live. I have dealt with this idea of the “office of a dreamer of dreams” in a blog several years ago and I want to strongly recommend that you read a book by my spiritual father / mentor, Apostle David E. Taylor, called “Rediscovering & Restoring Honor to the Office of the Dreamer in the 21st Century”. You can also find that book listed on Amazon Kindle here…

When The Dream Interpreter Cannot Interpret Your Dream

So what might be that one big reason why I might not be able to interpret your dreams? As I said at the top, there can be several reasons why God may not give me the answer to your dream but I only want to focus on one of them here. It is the same reason why God did not initially send me very many people who could interpret my dreams 11 years ago when I first began learning.

Here is that reason: sometimes God expects YOU to find the answer and that will come only by a combination of the following…

  1. You must ask God! (also known as “prayer”).
  2. You must learn how to research and study!

As you do those 2 things, God will usually take the next step and bring that answer to you at an unexpected time in the next few days or weeks, etc. God expects us to learn to work with Him; that means when He gives you a confusing dream or situation in your life, He is expecting you to go back to Him and start a conversation about it! Some of us have learned very useless and ineffective ideas of what “prayer” means. Some of us, including myself, many decades ago, were taught that prayer meant reciting a bunch of stuff that someone else came up with hundreds of years ago in a prayer book.

Ok, so some of those books are helpful in getting you started but you should never stay stuck in the realm of reciting another person’s formed prayers for the rest of your life. If you do that, you are stuck in a very low state of immaturity. Seriously, do you really think Elijah or Moses talked to God by reciting a bunch of stuff in a prayer book??!! NO. It should be obvious they did not do that!!

Prayer is simply a matter of a conversation between you and God. The more you do it, the better and more natural it becomes. And… the more answers you will get from God through many avenues including: dreams, visions, ideas that suddenly come into your head, resources that give you the answer you were looking for, or people who just happen to say the right thing at the right time. It is very simple but some of us were taught to overcomplicate all this!

Advice To A Reader…

In response to an email someone sent me about a dream that I did not have an answer for, I wrote these two paragraphs to them which I have copied and pasted here…

Sometimes God shows things that do not have a clear meaning because He is expecting you to go back to Him and ask what is going on and what you are supposed to do about it. Many dreams (but not all) have a required response and sometimes it is as simple as that – ask God what you are supposed to do with what He showed you.  It [the proper response] is not always obvious!

Sometimes you have to become good at researching things – the more you do that, the more answers you will get.  God does require us to study in order to be approved by Him.  Sometimes God will not give me an answer to someone else’s dream because He is trying to get that person to go research the answers themselves; so, God may not give me any insights regarding the meaning of their dream.  In that case, I have to switch to mentoring, not interpreting. That can at times be the real intent of God to give that person tools and keys so they can do all these things themselves.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)

Take a look at what that word “study” means in the concordance and you will find that it means you accelerate and speed up regarding every area of your life, especially in context of our topic today!

Study – g4704. spoudazō; to use speed, i.e. to make effort, be prompt or earnest: be diligent, endeavour, labour, study, to hasten, make haste, to exert one’s self.

Strong’s Concordance – “study”

The more you do this, the better you will get – that has been true for me as well. It is also the way to avoid slothfulness which we are warned about in the Bible. I won’t do the work in telling you what that means – that is your homework assignment to use the concordance and look up that word. I’ll give you one hint though… use this website where you can do key word searches and find the meaning in the concordance: https://www.blueletterbible.org.

Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

Romans 12:11 (KJV)

That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Hebrews 6:12 (KJV)

ACTION!

So, there you have it. The simple reason why God may not give me the answer to your dream is that He expects you to do the work and learn to research and study. That may be using online resources or the Bible and concordance. That is how I got to where I am today with interpreting all these dreams for people who find my website and send me their dreams. It did not happen overnight! It took serious time and effort.

In the section below are 2 more blogs I have written regarding what to do if your dream does not have an easy answer. Check them out and be sure to look on my store page for many more resources on dreams and interpretation from various other authors. You can also get my free ebook linked at the bottom here that has many tips on learning to interpret dreams. Do this and you will get results!

PS: In case you’re wondering, sometimes I write blogs to remind myself of some basic facts I may have forgotten myself (yep, ouch…)thank you for reading!
