Have you ever seen yourself trying to take a photo in a dream at night with either a camera or a phone? Have you ever wondered if a dream of taking photos has some sort of symbolic message about the circumstances in your life now? Fortunately, I have had many dreams involving these exact symbols (and actions) and I can tell you from experience what these might mean. If you’ve ever wondered about the meaning of a camera, focusing on a scene or objects from the past, here are some answers based on my past experience with exactly these types of symbols. In this blog is a recent dream with a full explanation of all the primary symbols.

Dream: Manually Focusing A Camera

March 11, 2024 – I have my digital SLR Nikon camera (one from several years ago which I do not currently have now) and I’m trying to figure out how to set the alternate focus points using the screen and buttons on the back of the camera. I see myself doing this in two different settings: first, inside a store, then outside in a park on a sunny day with lots of people and some farm animals walking past me on a sidewalk (mostly chickens). This outdoor setting had the sense that I was back at the Air Force Academy (the university I graduated from years ago). I also have a camera case/bag with my former Air Force Lt Col rank as Velcro patch inside the case. Then, some people come over to me and want to know what I’m doing.

• Camera = making a mental note of something profound, God’s way of telling you that what you see in the dream is very important and you need to remember it, capturing memories that should shape your future outlook or your way of handling situations.
• Nikon camera = (from the past) objects from the past can relate to lessons from the past, memories, don’t forget what is important and put it far behind me, spiritual training; it can also represent the state of mind going backwards (backsliding) to the previous self where we were not acting according to God’s ways but according to the old self / the way of the flesh.
• Focusing = (a camera) deliberately focusing the mind on what’s important rather than just what’s immediately in front of you, exerting effort to keep the mind on the right things and on right priorities, meditating diligently on very specific things, and shutting out distractions (see many relevant Bibile verses below this section).
• Alternate focus points = this further elaborates on the above in that it emphasizes the necessity to exert mental effort to keep the mind only on those things that are priorities for me according to other dreams I received that show what God wants me doing right now (especially the invention business startup and on spiritual training).
• USAF rank = this literally refers to my former Air Force career, shortly after this I met some new people who had a similar background to myself in this regard, these were new connections that I needed in order to start my invention business that I write about frequently here).
• USAF Academy = a university represents a situation where you are in an advanced learning situation which often refers to literally acquiring new knowledge at the level of a university education (see previous blogs on this symbol); at this time I was spending many hours literally studying books about starting a corporation and intellectual property / patents.
• Store = a place of material distractions, a place of looking for something, researching or considering options.
• Farm animals = this is only known to myself because it relates to extremely negative circumstances in my immediate surroundings (ie: a “zoo” of noise, disorder and commotion in my current living arrangement which make it very hard to be productive).
• Park = a peaceful place / state of mind which is in stark contrast to the farm animals symbol.
• Sunny day = despite the extreme negative surroundings and distractions of many types, this ultimately indicates that things are going well, even if they do not seem that way at times (exactly the way things have been playing out these last many months).

Connecting With Real Life Circumstances

A brief note about real life circumstances… at the time of this dream (and afterwards), there were extremely negative environmental factors that frequently made it impossible for me to get anything done at times. This dream became my current and advanced instruction to do what it took to keep my mind on the right priorities which included spiritual and natural studies that I needed to accomplish God’s plan for my life (right now and in the future).

As you can see, the older camera from the past was a dual symbol which, combined with the manual focusing points, were God’s way of showing me what to do in the midst of very negative circumstances.
