Have you ever had a dream of taking a test in school? If so, did you know what the subject of the test or the class was? Suppose you did not know but, there may have been subtle clues or even a single word or phrase that at least gave some context? If you’ve ever had a dream like that, this blog will help you. I’ve had several test-taking dreams in the last few years and I just had one again last night.

In this blog, I will discuss the primary symbols and an overall explanation of these types of dreams. I will also include a recent podcast episode where I explained the relevant real life circumstances that I believe led to this dream. I am fairly certain that at some point, you will have a test-taking dream and at least having the basic understanding of these will go a long way to helping you out!

Dream Of A University Test

April 18, 2022 – I’m taking a test in college (university) with many other students. We are all sitting outside and have this very thick huge textbook. I did not actually see any test questions. It seemed like part of the test involved computer programming. Other parts of the test were unknown. Some of the pages were purple, some had no writing but instead had lines (as if part of a diagram). Some people seemed to know what was going on but I did not. 

The simplest explanation of this dream is that God was showing me I have been in the middle of a personal test (for the last several weeks). Just as the dream showed, I had no idea I was even in a test. It was very complex and involved an extremely dense and broad range of subjects all in one. There were several main clues that stood out to help understand the real life circumstances which this dream relates to.

Here is my explanation of the primary symbols…

• Computer programming = instructions that lead to actions and requires a deliberate thought process, this is about a mindset and involves taking past learning and applying it to present situations in order to obtain a positive or desired outcome; in a secondary sense, this can also relate to my blog (since that is done literally on a computer and involves writing).
• Purple = this color is often a symbol of royalty matters and relates to your kingship position, based on the nature of my personal circumstances at the time, this refers to a very comprehensive and high-level test of maturity for my specific calling according to the type of king God is trying to make me into, this also relates to sonship matters which likewise require a high level of maturity (see JMMI online symbol explanation).
• Textbook = generally, books refer to study and understanding, the type and appearance of the book will indicate the subject and level of difficulty it represents; in my dream, this book represented a high level and very comprehensive personal test I was going through (based on my knowledge of real life circumstances).
• University = high level learning, often relates to spiritual matters; in some cases, this could represent the literal need to study academic material based on whatever subject was shown in the dream (see my past blogs where I have had literal dreams regarding academic study of space, science and technology matters).
• Tests = God often gives us tests at various stages of our development, in some cases these dreams indicate whether or not we are doing well in our process; in order for God to promote us to higher levels, we must study in order to be approved by God (see verses below).

Additional comment: as you will hear in the podcast episode linked below, for the previous weeks, I had been having severe challenges with personal circumstances and confusion over what I referred to as another of many apparent “false starts“. My mindset was not good and this dream was God’s way of giving me a hint that the root of my problem was in the area of my “mental programming”, especially as it related to matters of faith for a long awaited desired outcome.

Common Dreams & Symbols

The dream I wrote about today is not necessarily the kind you will have too frequently but it is in the general sense, a type of common dream. If you are not familiar with the idea of common dreams, it is a category that involve symbols that you see (to a certain extent) in everyday life.
